China and Vietnam issued the "Joint Statement between the People's Republic of China and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on continuing to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and accelerating the construction of a China-Vietnam community of shared future with strategic significance" on April 14. The two countries discussed cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and nuclear energy, and implemented the China-Vietnam Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement.
China
China's semiconductor industry has formed a three-dimensional pattern of "full-chain layout, regional coordination, and technological breakthrough" and has developed rapidly, with continuous breakthroughs in technology. In the wave of artificial intelligence, the importance of the AI chip industry, as the core of computing power, is increasing day by day. In recent years, domestic policies have continued to favor the development of the AI chip industry.
In March this year, Shenzhen, China announced the establishment of a 50 billion yuan state-owned science and technology innovation fund to develop artificial intelligence, robotics and other fields, focusing on five major areas including GPU general-purpose chips, ASIC special-purpose chips, FPGA semi-customized chips, storage and computing integrated chips, and silicon photonic chips.
Vietnam
Relying on its advantages in policies, geography and foreign capital, Vietnam has listed the semiconductor industry as a "national key strategy for the next 30-50 years" and has become a rising star in the semiconductor field in Southeast Asia.
Vietnam has issued the "Draft Semiconductor Microchip Industry Development Strategy", planning to establish at least 100 design companies, 1 small semiconductor chip manufacturing plant and 10 semiconductor product packaging and testing factories by 2030. By 2050, Vietnam plans to form at least 300 design companies, 3 semiconductor chip manufacturing plants and 20 semiconductor product packaging and testing plants.
At present, Vietnam has attracted external companies such as Intel, ASE, Samsung Electronics, Amkor, Qualcomm, ON Semiconductor, Renesas, TI, NXP, Marvell, Synopsys, Hengnuo Microelectronics, Ampere, etc.
