NVIDIA Blackwell chips have been in production now. This was announced by NVIDIA founder and CEO Renxun Huang on 2 June. He further revealed that the Blackwell Ultra AI chip is set to be launched in 2025. The next generation of AI platform, called ‘Rubin’, will utilize the HBM4 memory chips. The next generation of the Rubin platform is currently under development and is scheduled for release in 2026.
According to reports, NVIDIA's inaugural Blackwell chip is called GB200, which is claimed to be ‘the most powerful chip in the world’. At present, the supply chain is optimistic about the GB200, and it is estimated that shipments in 2025 will have the opportunity to exceed one million, which will account for nearly 40% -50% of NVIDIA's high-end GPU shipments.
On 2 June, NVIDIA announced the release of a system ‘array’ supported by NVIDIA Blackwell architecture, developed in collaboration with a number of leading global computer manufacturers. Configure Grace CPUs, NVIDIA networking equipment and infrastructure to enable enterprises to build ‘AI factories’ and digital centers to drive the next wave of generative AI breakthroughs.
Zhejia Wei, chief executive of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), said in a statement, that TSMC has worked closely with NVIDIA to push the boundaries of semiconductor innovation to help them realize their AI vision. Our industry-leading semiconductor manufacturing technology has helped shape NVIDIA's breakthrough GPUs, including those based on the Blackwell architecture.
In the first quarter of fiscal year 2025, NVIDIA reported revenue of US $26 billion, up 18% from the previous quarter and up 262% from a year ago. Net income was $14.88 billion, up 628% from the same period last year. Both revenue and net income beat expectations by a large margin, helping NVIDIA's share price hit another record high.
On 28 May, NVIDIA saw a 7% increase to $1,139.010, with a total market value of $2.8 trillion, just $110 billion off Apple Inc. Updates with closing share price on 31 May, NVIDIA shares retreated two straight after peaking at $1,158.2 and were last reported at $1,096.3. The latest market value is 2.7 trillion U.S. dollars, shedding the market value of more than 120 billion U.S. dollars.
According to the latest report released by service consulting agencies Dealroom and Flow Partners, Mag7 invests up to $400 billion in AI and cloud infrastructure each year. The "Magnificent Seven" companies — NVIDIA, Microsoft, Apple, Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Tesla — have a combined value of nearly $14 trillion (approximately 32% of the S&P 500). The most intense competition is in the hardware layer and model layer of AI. NVIDIA, which dominates the AI chip market, is besieging by peers and customers. Microsoft, Google, and Amazon are all developing their own AI chips.
